Main tasks
- Researching the basic make up, properties and structure of matter, how energy is converted and transferred, and physical phenomena such as force, heat, light, sound, electromagnetism, atoms, atomic nuclei and elementary particles
- Exploring how the laws and principles of physics can be used in industry, medicine, defence and other areas
- Analysing physical phenomena with mathematical methods and stating the conclusions in mathematical terms
- Showing how the conclusions relate to known laws, or explaining them with newly proposed theories, concepts or laws
