How to become a Security Screening Officer

Also called: Aviation Security Screener, Mail and Parcel Security Screener, Rail Passenger Security Screener
Carries out security screening with X ray scanners and other equipment at airports, stations, ports and other public places.
Main tasks
- Screening people entering and leaving airports, stations, ports and customs, and their hand luggage, stored and checked items, with equipment as the law requires
- Checking suspicious items by opening bags and searching by hand or with X ray machines and explosives detectors
- Checking the documents and belongings of people entering secure areas or special sites
- Checking vehicles, ships, goods and documents passing through customs
- Holding or seizing suspicious items under the law and rules and handing offenders to law enforcement
- Compiling and reporting incidents, special situations and activations of emergency plans, and writing self check reports and corrective measures
