How to become a Seed Producer
Official Chinese title (2022 occupational classification): 种子繁育员
Also called: Crop Seed Producer, Forage Seed Producer, Seed Processing Worker
Grows, multiplies and processes crop seed with farm machinery and seed production tools.
Main tasks
- Preparing the land, turning, drying, disinfecting and soaking parent seed and deciding when to sow
- Sowing and raising seedlings, transplanting, watching crop growth and health, adjusting soil nutrients and moisture and controlling pests, diseases and weeds
- Watching crop development, pulling out off type and weak plants, timing flowering, removing male flowers and pollinating
- Recording seed treatment, growth in the field and crop management and estimating seed yield
- Harvesting seed and dealing with straw and other waste
- Operating drying and cleaning equipment to process seed
