Makes, assembles and adjusts all kinds of tools and templates using fitting skills and equipment.
Main tasks
- Setting up vices and fixtures, loading and unloading workpieces and sharpening tools
- Making templates, gauges, fixtures and similar items by sawing, filing, scraping, lapping, drilling and reaming
- Lapping workpiece surfaces by hand
- Checking part accuracy and analysing errors
- Maintaining tooling and equipment
