Air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics assemble, install, maintain and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment.
Main tasks
- Interpreting blueprints, drawings and other specifications
- Assembling, installing and repairing components such as compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, switches and gauges for air conditioning and refrigeration systems
- Connecting piping and equipment by bolting, riveting, welding or brazing
- Testing systems, diagnosing faults and performing routine maintenance or servicing

- Apprenticeship: Refrigeration/Air-Conditioning Mechanic. Refrigeration/Air-Conditioning Mechanic (冷凝/空氣調節技工) is a designated trade under the Apprenticeship Ordinance (Cap. 47); the period of apprenticeship is 4 years (Cap. 47C). Apprentices sign a registered contract with an employer.
