HKDSE score calculator and university admission
Enter your HKDSE levels. The calculator checks the 332A minimum and adds up your best five and best six subjects on the scale you choose.
How HKDSE results are graded
Most subjects are graded at levels 1 to 5, with 5* and 5** above level 5; results below level 1 are Unclassified. Citizenship and Social Development is reported as Attained or Unattained. Applied Learning subjects are reported as Attained, Attained with Distinction (I) or Attained with Distinction (II).
The 332A minimum
The general minimum for a bachelor's degree through JUPAS is 332A: level 3 in Chinese Language and English Language, level 2 in Mathematics (Compulsory Part) and Attained in Citizenship and Social Development. Some programmes ask for 333A, and each university sets its own elective requirements. In 2025, 38.5% of all candidates (44.9% of day-school candidates) reached 332A or better.
How universities turn levels into a score
Universities convert each level into points and add up your best five (or a weighted mix of subjects) for each programme. Some use a scale where 5** is worth 8.5, 5* is 7 and 5 is 5.5; others count 5** as 7. Programmes publish their own scores each year, and only the university's own page tells you how it counts your subjects.

Questions
What is 332A?
Level 3 in Chinese and English, level 2 in Mathematics (Compulsory Part) and Attained in Citizenship and Social Development: the general minimum for a bachelor's degree through JUPAS.
Which scale should I use?
The one the university you are applying to uses. Several count 5** as 8.5; others count it as 7. The university's admission page says which.
Can this tell me whether I will get in?
No. Admission scores change every year and many programmes weight subjects differently, so treat the result as your score on one scale, not a prediction.
An estimate from the results you enter. Your university's academic record is the official figure.
