光学顕微鏡と電子顕微鏡で岩石・鉱物の薄片と研磨片を観察する
分光計、質量分析計、クロマトグラフなどの機器を用いて試料を試験する
試験・鑑定の結果を記録し、画像とデータを分析して岩石と鉱物の成分を判断し、報告書にまとめる
