- 蘇生、除細動、生命維持装置の操作を含め、救急医療のプロトコルに従って医療処置を行い、薬などの療法を施す
- 医療機関、リハビリテーション施設などの医療施設への往復の搬送中に、患者の健康状態の変化を観察する
- 地域団体や社会に不可欠なサービスの従事者に、病気やけがの初期対応としての応急手当の情報と研修を提供する
- 健康上の緊急事態が起こりやすい大規模な集会や行事に待機する、または巡回する
- 患者の状態と行った処置に関する情報を診療記録システムに記録する
