視力の低下を矯正するため、眼科医や検眼士の処方に基づいて光学レンズを設計し、合わせ、販売する。矯正用の眼鏡、コンタクトレンズ、ロービジョン補助具などの光学機器を扱う。
主な業務
- 眼鏡などの光学機器を合わせるため、利用者の顔と目を観察して計測する
- 性能、安全性、快適さ、生活様式の面から、眼鏡とフレームの選び方と手入れ、コンタクトレンズの種類、その他の光学機器について利用者に助言する
- 光学処方を読み解き、レンズの研磨とフレームへの取り付け、コンタクトレンズの準備などの作業について、光学加工所向けの作業指示書を作成する
- 完成した光学機器が元の処方と利用者の装用感に正確に合っているかを確認する
