How to become a Planning and Research Officer

Carries out market research and plans and designs new products and services.
Main tasks
- Preparing materials (collecting data based on the planning framework)
- Writing proposals
- Carrying out market research to understand what consumers want
- Forming hypotheses based on research and summary reports
- Identifying the target customers to win
- Designing product plans that suit the target customers
- Communicating with related departments, advertising agencies and others
- Summarising evaluations of planned designs
- Setting KPIs (key performance indicators)
- Checking how well targets are being met after a product goes on sale
- Analysing the reasons when targets are missed and redesigning the plan from the start
- Reporting plans and results to management
- Telling sales outlets how to sell products
- Negotiating and coordinating with customers and stakeholders
- Drawing up and managing business plans
- Developing new businesses
