How to become a job coach

Job coach (disability) provides assistance to persons with disabilities who require additional support to secure and retain employment. He/she identifies suitable job roles for his/her clients, provides training in relevant work skills and redesigns job roles. He/she conducts job site visits following job placement to provide job support and track clients’ progress. He/she performs these tasks in settings such as the workplaces of his/her clients, assisted training and employment centres, or job sites of partner employers.

- Identifying suitable job openings for their clients
- Contacting employers and facilitating communication between employers and clients
- Conducting training in relevant work skills
- Redesigning job roles to support clients’ continued employment
- Conducting job site visits and tracking clients’ progress in their jobs
