How to become a risk analyst
Official title: Risk analyst (non-financial)
Also called: Product risk analyst, Sustainability Risk Analyst, Sustainability Risk Manager, Product risk analyst
Risk analyst (non-financial) identifies potential risks and controls by performing risk assessments and research, analysing risk metrics/indicators, tracking industry trends and changes and reporting these findings to stakeholders. He/she ensures that risk management checks are performed with documentations duly completed and ensure internal controls are in place. He/she works closely with a broad range of cross-functional teams in areas such as legal, regulatory, policy, technology and product development teams to improve overall risk and compliance outcomes. He/she implements and supports the maintenance of the risk management framework and supports risk mitigation activities.
Main tasks
- Reviewing existing policies and legislation to identify anomalies and out-of-date provisions
- Researching social, economic and industrial trends, and client expectations of programmes and services provided
- Conducting threat and risk assessments and developing responses
- Reviewing operations and programmes to ensure consistency with policies of the organisation
