Rolling stock engineering technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance activities as well as modification and/or overhaul works on trains and its components. He/she conducts fault analyses, repairs of electronics, electrical and mechanical equipment of trains as well as performing routine vehicle inspections in accordance to maintenance procedures and instructions. He/she may also supervise the work of contractors and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to operating standards and safety standards.
Main tasks
- Monitoring technical aspects of manufacture, utilisation, maintenance and repair of transport equipment to ensure satisfactory performance and compliance with specifications and regulations
- Assembling and installing new and modified transport equipment’s mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systems
- Conducting tests of transport equipment, collecting and analysing data, and assembling and installing vehicle mechanical assemblies in support of transport and vehicle engineers
