Official title: Riggers and Cable Splicers
Riggers and cable splicers install heavy lifting equipment such as cranes, mobile platforms and booms, connect, repair and install ropes, and install and secure suspension bridge cables in mountains, gorges, fjords, construction sites, oil and gas wells, ships, aircraft, factories and dockyards.
Main tasks
- Install and repair cables, ropes, wires, pulleys and other blocks
- Splice, repair and fit attachments to cables, ropes and wires
- Install and repair derricks for water, oil and gas drilling
- Hoist or rig theatre scenery, lighting and other equipment
- Install and repair cable cars and similar installations
