Tour guides lead or provide commentary for sightseeing and travel.
Main tasks
- Accompany and guide visitors on tours and sightseeing
- Describe places of interest, provide exhibition information and answer questions
- Ensure visitors follow site rules and travel safety rules

- Technical college: Technical and vocational college programme. Universities of science and technology and junior colleges run departments in related fields: travel, tourism and leisure (1015). Departments in academic year 114 (2025-26): four-year technical bachelor's (四技) 37, two-year technical bachelor's (二技) 10, five-year junior college (五專) 2, two-year junior college (二專) 4. Fields matched to the occupation by Peernovo.
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a tour guide you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 華語導遊人員、外語導遊人員 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 32.
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a tour leader you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 華語領隊人員、外語領隊人員 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 33.
