How to become a Chemical Plant Operator
Also called: Chemical Plant Technician, Process Operator (Chemical), Process Technician (Chemical)
Controls the operation of chemical production plant.
Main tasks
- Monitors and controls the operation of chemical production plant
- Adjusts equipment and controls to maintain specified operating conditions and product quality within chemical processing plants
- Inspects and tests samples of raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and machinery
- Records and maintains production data and reports any deviations or issues

- Apprenticeship: Certificate III in Process Plant Operations. Trade occupations are usually entered through an apprenticeship: paid work plus this qualification, typically 3 to 4 years.
