How to become a Product Assembler
Puts together components and subassemblies that go into the mass production of jewellery and precious metal articles, joinery products, metal products, electrical and electronic equipment, automotive components and other goods in a factory or production line.
Main tasks
- Interprets work orders, specifications, diagrams and drawings to determine assembly instructions and materials needed
- Gathers, organises and aligns parts and components for assembly, and bolts, screws or rivets components together
- Assembles components and subassemblies, either by hand or by using power tools, soldering or micro-welding equipment
- Checks that sub-assemblies are securely connected and meet the required specifications for further assembly in a production line
- Identifies and resolves any issues or defects in the assembly process
