How to become an Arbitrator
Official Chinese title (2022 occupational classification): 仲裁员
Is appointed by an arbitration commission and chosen by the parties or named by the commission's chair, hearing contract disputes and other property disputes, organising mediation or giving final awards.
Main tasks
- Hearing cases alone or as one of three on a tribunal once chosen or named, and giving final awards in civil and commercial cases
- Bringing both sides together for mediation first and helping them reach agreement
- Organising investigation and evidence gathering as cases need, and arranging expert opinions, valuations and inspections
- Preparing and serving mediation agreements or awards
