Also called: LPG Depot Operator, LNG Storage and Transport Worker, Gas Distribution Station Operator, Steelworks Gas Safety Worker, Gas Network Operator, Gas Installation and Repair Technician, CNG Station Operator
Uses compression, refrigeration, storage tank, filling and pipe network equipment to load, unload, store, distribute and safely handle gas, and installs, runs and maintains gas networks.
Main tasks
- Operating compression, refrigeration, storage tank and other equipment to store and distribute liquefied petroleum gas and liquefied natural gas
- Operating natural gas storage, compression, pretreatment, loading and other equipment to treat, store, load, meter and transport natural gas
- Operating gas compression, drying, pressure regulating and distribution equipment to send gas out to users
- Operating filling equipment to fill gas containers
- Commissioning, running, pressure regulating, leak patrolling, pipe locating, fault finding and emergency repair on town gas networks with specialist equipment and tools
- Installing gas fittings and appliances for customers, connecting and purging them, carrying out safety checks and repairs, with equipment and tools
- Keeping safe while working with alarms, breathing apparatus, shut off valves and similar
- Providing explosion, lightning, static and other safety protection in the work area
- Checking and maintaining production equipment and dealing quickly with problems or faults
