How to become an Insulation Products Maker
Official Chinese title (2022 occupational classification): 绝缘制品制造工
Also called: Insulating Materials Maker, Insulator Maker, Moulded Insulation Parts Maker, Insulating Bushing Maker, Heat Shrink Materials Maker
Runs specialist equipment such as reactors, mica tape machines, coating machines, hot presses and air compressors to make and assemble insulators, heat shrink materials, insulating materials and moulded insulating parts for electrical and electronic equipment.
Main tasks
- Impregnating glass cloth, polyester film and similar with resin on mica tape machines, bonding it to mica paper or flakes and drying it with heat to make mica tape
- Adding raw materials and additives to reactors to make resins, adhesives, insulating oils and varnishes
- Hot pressing and curing insulating materials, then forming, punching, cutting and machining them into moulded insulating parts with CNC engraving and milling machines, hot presses, water jet cutters, infrared edge saws and so on
- Hot pressing and curing stacked mica tape or prepreg sheets, then finishing them on edge trimmers and similar machines to make electrical laminates or mica board
- Impregnating, mixing and kneading resin, additives or fibre, then moulding it into insulating products with extruders, kneaders, coiling and sheeting machines
- Casting or casting and stretching resin into electrical film with slitters, casting machines and biaxial film stretching lines
- Coating film with polymer resin to make adhesive film on coating machines
- Winding insulating paper or film onto rods or tubes, vacuum impregnating it with oil or resin to make the core, then assembling or pressing it into electrical bushings
- Processing quartz, feldspar and other raw materials in processing equipment and kilns, then melting, pressing, toughening, thermal shock testing and cementing them into glass insulators
- Processing rubber, resin, carbon black and fillers, mixing and vulcanising them into shape, then crimping end fittings onto the insulating core to make polymer insulators
- Crushing, mixing, sieving, removing iron from and filter pressing feldspar, clay, industrial alumina, bauxite and so on, then vacuum extruding or dry pressing blanks and trimming them
- Drying, glazing and firing in kilns and similar equipment, then cutting, grinding and cementing to make porcelain insulators
- Heating radiation crosslinked polymers until rubbery, expanding them quickly and cooling them to set, to make heat shrink materials, with air compressors, vacuum pumps, chillers, expanders and expansion moulds
- Assembling insulating parts for electrical products by stacking, tying, gluing and riveting with equipment and tools
- Maintaining jigs, gauges, instruments and equipment and fixing faults
- Testing the performance of insulating products, using thermal analysers, flammability testers, electrical ageing chambers, universal testing machines and breakdown voltage testers
