- Moving ore or overburden to stockpiles or dumps by belt conveyor
- Crushing ore or overburden and transferring it to conveyors
- Moving material with transfer machines
- Pushing waste over bench edges with dump ploughs
- Driving rail locomotives to haul ore and overburden
- Loading trains from weigh bins and spraying antifreeze and dust suppressant
- Moving electric shovels, mobile substations and other large equipment on heavy low loaders
- Relocating belt conveyors as a whole and moving transfer machines and crushers with crawler transporters
- Laying out, reeling in and moving high voltage cables
- Maintaining equipment, clearing faults and keeping production records
