How to become a Pharmaceutical Production Worker

Runs production lines in pharmaceutical factories to make medicines.
Main tasks
- Changing into uniforms or work clothes and disinfecting and sterilising to stop anything getting into the product
- Monitoring the running of the production line
- Weighing raw materials to the set amounts
- Operating equipment that loads weighed raw materials into machines
- Running and monitoring equipment that automatically makes active ingredients
- Taking samples at each stage and analysing them to check the active ingredient
- Operating machines that accurately weigh out the specified amount of active ingredient
- Operating machines that form active ingredients into different shapes
- Taking product samples and sending them to the laboratory for analysis
- Operating machines that add treatment agents or neutralisers and pass the product through filters or centrifuges to remove impurities
- Running and monitoring automatic filling machines that fill containers with product
- Regularly taking samples from filled containers and testing their quality
- Operating machines that label filled containers and box them with instructions
- Monitoring crack testers and automatic washing and sterilising equipment that clean and sterilise tanks and containers
