Financial/Investment adviser develops financial plans for individuals and organisations, and invests and manages funds on their behalf.
Main tasks
- Building and maintaining a client base
- Interviewing clients to determine financial status and objectives, risk tolerance and other information needed to develop financial plans and investment strategies
- Setting financial objectives, and developing and implementing strategies for achieving the financial objectives
- Arranging to buy and sell stocks and bonds for clients
- Monitoring investment performance, and reviewing and revising investment plans based on modified needs and changes in markets
- Providing consultancy services to individuals and organisations to advise them on better financial and investments management

- Licence or registration: People who give financial advice or sell insurance and investment products must meet the required exam and competency standards and be notified to MAS by the firm that appoints them, which lists them on the public register of representatives.
