Official title: Construction Managers
Plans, directs, coordinates and oversees construction such as civil engineering, building and pipework projects.
Main tasks
- Prepare tenders and bids, and build or subcontract work under contract
- Control the quality of work and make sure it meets building regulations and standards
- Coordinate labour and the purchase and delivery of materials, machinery and equipment
- Negotiate with building owners, property developers and subcontractors so projects finish on time and within budget
- Control budgets and spending and make sure resources are used efficiently
- Oversee the selection, training and performance of staff
