How to become an Economist
Official title: Economists
Researches economic theory and evidence to analyse, explain and forecast economic behaviour and trends, and solves economic problems for government, business and other organisations.
Main tasks
- Forecast changes in economic variables
- Collect and analyse data using economic theory, mathematics, statistics and other analytical tools to solve economic problems
- Assess the feasibility of public policies and measures, business strategies and investment plans, and propose solutions
- Analyse, assess and forecast economic policies and variables such as monetary and fiscal policy, production and consumption, employment and unemployment, labour force participation and wages, income and spending, and interest and exchange rates
- Write academic reports and papers
