Main tasks
- Research the origins, development, structure, forms, organisation and relationships of human societies
- Study human development through past remains such as dwellings, temples, tools, pottery, coins, weapons and sculpture
- Study how regional physical and climatic factors relate to economic, social and cultural activity
- Apply research findings to social policy for the development of communities, regions and markets
- Develop theories, models and methods to explain and describe social phenomena
