How to become an Electrical Engineer
Official title: Electrical Engineers
Researches, plans, designs and directs the building and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and components.
Main tasks
- Design and plan power generation, transmission and distribution systems, and supervise and control their operation
- Supervise and design systems such as generators, electric traction motors and other equipment or household appliances, and specify the installation and use of electrical systems in industrial plants and other buildings
- Set control standards and procedures to make sure power generation and transmission systems run efficiently and safely
- Develop methods of manufacturing electrical equipment
Ways in
- University department: Engineering degrees, Offered by 93 universities in Taiwan
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a professional electrical engineer you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 電機工程技師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 4.
