Official title: Information and Communications Technology Operations Technicians
Supports the operation and monitoring of ICT systems, peripherals, hardware, software and related computer equipment.
Main tasks
- Operate and control computer peripherals; enter commands and operate computer terminals and controllers for computers and peripherals
- Monitor systems to detect equipment faults or processing errors, and notify supervisors or maintenance technicians
- Schedule computer jobs so they run on time, securely and efficiently
- Load tapes or disks as needed to process or record data, and manage data files
- Install peripherals such as printers and the supplies they need, or supervise operators installing peripherals
