Official title: Inland and Coastal Waters Fishery Workers
Inland, coastal and inshore fishery workers catch aquatic animals and plants in rivers, lakes, coastal and inshore waters. Workers who operate inland, coastal and inshore fishing vessels are also included.
Main tasks
- Select fishing grounds, plan routes and calculate positions using compasses, charts, radar and other aids
- Command, steer and navigate fishing vessels
- Set bait and set or tow fishing gear
- Catch fish in inland, coastal and inshore waters and gather wild aquatic animals and plants
- Prepare and repair nets, fishing gear and other equipment, and maintain vessel engines and other on-board equipment
