Official title: Medical Imaging and Therapeutic Equipment Technicians

Tests and operates medical technical equipment, or carries out imaging and tests such as X-ray, nuclear medicine, laser, radioisotope, EEG, ECG and MRI as directed by a doctor.

Main tasks

Explain procedures, help patients into the correct position and use protective devices so they are scanned or treated safely and comfortably
Check and assess the information from X-ray, nuclear medicine, laser, radioisotope, EEG, ECG and MRI to decide whether images are suitable for diagnosis, and record results
Measure and record the radiation dose given or the patient's uptake of radioactive drugs as prescribed by a doctor
Record and safely handle radioactive materials and store radioactive drugs in line with radiation safety measures

Ways in

Technical college: Technical and vocational college programme. Universities of science and technology and junior colleges run departments in related fields: medical technology and laboratory science (0914). Departments in academic year 114 (2025-26): four-year technical bachelor's (四技) 8, two-year technical bachelor's (二技) 9, five-year junior college (五專) 11, two-year junior college (二專) 4. Fields matched to the occupation by Peernovo.
Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a medical radiation technologist you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 醫事放射師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 15.
