Official title: Plumbers and Pipe Fitters

Plumbers and pipe fitters assemble, fix, install and repair pipe systems for stormwater, gas, water supply, oil, chemicals and wastewater, and cut, groove, bend, join, install, lay and maintain pipes for conveying and control systems in buildings, factories, ships and aircraft.

Main tasks

• Measure, cut, bend, join, assemble, install and repair fittings and fixtures for plumbing, drainage, heating, water supply and sewerage systems
• Install gas appliances, dishwashers, water heaters, sinks and toilets using hand and power tools
• Lay clay, concrete or cast iron pipes in trenches for sewers, drains, water mains and other uses
• Test installed pipe systems and plumbing using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods
