How to become a Biomedical Technician
Tests, calibrates, repairs, services and maintains biomedical equipment using a variety of tools and computer applications to keep biomedical machinery operating in optimal conditions.
Main tasks
- Conducts scheduled maintenance, quality control checks and electrical safety inspections of biomedical equipment to ensure safe and effective operation
- Installs and calibrates biomedical equipment or components
- Demonstrates and assists with the operation of specialised biomedical equipment
- Cleans, repairs and replaces biomedical equipment when necessary

- TAFE and VET: Certificate III in Sterilisation Services (HLT37015); Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (MSL40122); Diploma of Laboratory Technology (MSL50122)
- Licence or registration: Registration or licensing may be required.
