How to become a Fabric and Textile Factory Worker
Performs routine tasks in a fabric and textile factory, such as cutting canvas, upholstery and curtain fabrics, delivering materials to machines, operating automatic machines using computerised patterns, pressing partially completed and finished garments, and inspecting and finishing completed garments.
Main tasks
- Cuts canvas, upholstery and curtain fabrics according to specified patterns
- Operates automatic machines using computerised patterns
- Inspects completed garments for quality and makes necessary adjustments or repairs
- Finishes completed garments by attaching buttons, zippers or other fasteners
- Maintains and cleans machines and work area for safety
- Assists in the packaging and labelling of finished garments for shipment
