How to become a Senior Horse Stable or Stud Worker
Oversees the raising, feeding, exercise, treatment and welfare of horses on a horse farm or stable. Prepares horses for work, sport and recreation.
Main tasks
- Supervises horse farm or stable activities, including feeding, exercising, grooming and readying of horses for work, sport or recreational activities
- Oversees the rearing of young horses, including the wellbeing of broodmares, foals, weanlings and yearlings
- Supervises Stablehands, overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of stables and horse equipment
- Supervises the assembly, preparation and storing of feed, bedding and horse equipment
- Prepares and attends to horses for transportation to race days and other sports and recreational activities
- May train new Stablehands
