How to become a Senior Piggery Stockperson
Also called: Senior Piggery Attendant
Performs skilled tasks in a piggery in supervising the breeding, farrowing, raising, feeding, treatment and welfare of pigs.
Main tasks
- Oversees pig breeding programs, including caring for farrowing sows and rearing piglets
- Develops and implements pig feeding programs, and identifies health and nutrition problems in pigs
- Supervises health and welfare programs for pigs
- Implements biosecurity management measures
- Manages water supply and irrigation systems
- Supervises general farming activities such as the movement of pigs, and maintenance and cleaning of pens and stalls, water supply systems, and other piggery infrastructure
- Supervises work routines and trains Piggery Farm Workers
