How to become a Visa and Citizenship Processing Officer
Interprets and applies immigration legislation and policy to facilitate migration, and prevent the circumvention of border controls by assessing and determining the status of visa or citizenship processes.
Main tasks
- Conducts interviews and investigations to gather credible information from applicants to support decision-making
- Identifies and investigates integrity, fraud and legislative non-compliance issues when processing visa or citizenship cases
- Communicates with applicants and relevant stakeholders to provide updates regarding visa or citizenship application processes and requirements
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of visa or citizenship applications and related documentation
- Remains informed about changes in legislation and policy to ensure accurate and consistent application processing
