How to become an Audiometrist
Official Chinese title (2022 occupational classification): 助听器验配师
Uses knowledge of assistive technology to give people with disabilities, older people, the injured and others with impairments referral, assessment, planning and training in using assistive devices.
Main tasks
- Assessing the hearing of people with hearing loss who have been diagnosed by a doctor and for whom medical treatment has not worked, and keeping records
- Reading hearing test results and analysing each person's hearing and needs
- Explaining hearing aid types, performance, suitable settings and prices to people with hearing loss and their families
- Planning hearing amplification to suit each person's hearing and needs
- Maintaining and repairing assistive products and giving general rehabilitation advice and follow up
- Fine tuning hearing aids and assessing the results
- Guiding hearing rehabilitation
- Following up clients and assessing progress
