How to become a Loan Officer
Official Chinese title (2022 occupational classification): 银行信贷员
Also called: Small Business Loan Officer
Explains and promotes bank loans and handles loan applications.
Main tasks
- Explaining the types, terms, interest rates and conditions of loans to borrowers
- Understanding borrowers' needs, guiding them through the application form and handling loan applications
- Helping assess borrowers' credit ratings based on their finances and other factors
- Responding to loan applications, signing contracts with borrowers and, where needed, signing guarantee contracts with guarantors or arranging notarisation
- Handling loan payouts and checking how borrowers keep to the contract and run their business
- Negotiating early repayment or loan extensions when borrowers ask
- Sending repayment notices when loans fall due and pressing for payment
- Sending collection notices for overdue loans and recovering principal and interest
- Gathering evidence and helping the relevant departments take legal action against borrowers who cannot repay
- Helping handle acceptance, discounting and rediscounting of commercial bills
