航空機の通信設備を用い、航空機と地上の間の通信連絡を担う。
主な業務
- 通信資料を受け取って照合し、ノータムと臨時規定を確認して、航路と任務の特徴に応じた通信計画を立てる。国際線や地域路線では乗員のパスポートを集めて査証を確認し、乗員申告書を記入して関係部門に提出する
- 運航管理者が用意した書類資料を確認し、機上の通信設備に通電・点検して、証明書、搭載資料、設備がそろって良好であることを確かめ、機長に報告する
- 国際便や地域便では、乗員の税関、出入国管理、検疫などの手続きを手伝う
- 設備を操作して地上と交信し、管制官と機長の指示を伝えて通信を確保し、通信記録を記入して、規定に沿って特殊な状況に対処し、気象資料を提供して、操縦士と航空士による航行援助施設の周波数と呼出符号の聴取・識別を手伝う
- 通信設備と通信支援の状況を地上担当者や関係部門に伝える
