How to become a Meteorologist
Official title: Meteorologists
Studies the make-up, structure and movement of the atmosphere, and produces short-term and long-term weather forecasts.
Main tasks
- Study the direction and speed of air flow, air pressure, temperature, humidity, and physical and chemical changes in pollutants
- Analyse weather report data, prepare short-range or long-range weather charts, and forecast storms, typhoons and rainfall
- Study the nature of solar and terrestrial radiation and its effect on the atmosphere
- Study the physical properties of solid and liquid particles suspended in the atmosphere
- Observe and analyse atmospheric conditions using balloons, rockets, satellites, visible and infrared photography, radar, radio and other remote sensing methods
- Carry out fog dispersal, rain-making and other weather modification experiments
