Precision instrument makers and repairers make, calibrate, repair, maintain, adjust and install mechanical clocks and watches and nautical, meteorological, optical, medical and other precision instruments.
Main tasks
- Make, calibrate, clean and repair timepieces such as clocks and watches
- Make, calibrate and repair nautical and meteorological instruments and equipment, optical instruments, orthopaedic devices and other precision instruments
- Test the accuracy of meters, indicators and other recording and control instruments, and calibrate them
- Assemble instruments and devices such as barometers, control valves, gyroscopes, hygrometers, speedometers, tachometers and thermostats
- Test, calibrate and adjust electronic, mercury, aneroid and other meteorological instruments using voltmeters, oscilloscopes, tube testers and other test equipment
- Repair and install optical instruments such as microscopes, telescopes, theodolites and sextants
