Operates and monitors equipment in the central control room of a chemical plant, and adjusts and maintains chemical processing units.
Main tasks
- Operate electronic or computer control panels in the central control room to monitor chemical processes and keep them running effectively
- Adjust chemical processing units, valves and pumps, and operate units and processing equipment
- Start up and shut down processing equipment, troubleshoot and monitor processing units; check for equipment faults, run routine tests and arrange repairs
