Operates and monitors multi-function process control machinery and equipment that controls metal converting and refining furnaces, rolling mills, and heat treatment or hot extrusion equipment.
Main tasks
- Monitor metal production processes from a central control room through control panels, computer terminals or other control systems
- Run multi-function process control machinery to grind, filter, melt, roast, treat, refine or otherwise process metal
- Watch computer printouts, video monitoring and metal thickness to check process conditions and make adjustments
