How to become a Dietician or Nutritionist
Official title: Dieticians and Nutritionists
Assesses people's nutritional balance, designs diets and gives dietary advice, or plans and oversees meals and nutrition for individuals and groups.
Main tasks
- Assess individuals' nutritional needs for good health, design diets and give advice
- Design diets for the nutritional needs of particular groups, and oversee meal preparation and service
- Oversee the design and provision of therapeutic diets in clinical care
- Advise on nutrition, diet plans and cooking to promote health and reduce health risks
Ways in
- University department: Allied Health degrees, Offered by 44 universities in Taiwan
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a dietitian you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 營養師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 17.
