Official title: Environmental and Occupational Health and Hygiene Professionals
Plans, carries out, evaluates and oversees workplace safety, health and injury prevention programmes.
Main tasks
- Draw up, carry out and oversee workplace health and injury prevention plans and policies
- Carry out workplace risk assessments and occupational disease prevention strategies in areas such as food safety, worker safety and factory wastewater treatment
- Identify hazards, assess and control health risks in the workplace, and give advice in line with relevant laws and regulations
- Give information and advice on workplace safety and health
- Investigate injuries and equipment damage, report on the results of injury prevention programmes, and coordinate compensation, rehabilitation and return to work for injured staff

- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a professional industrial or mining safety engineer you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 工業安全技師、礦業安全技師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 18.
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a professional occupational hygiene engineer you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 職業衛生技師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 41.
