How to become an Environmental Engineer
Official title: Environmental Engineers
Researches, designs and directs engineering methods that treat and reduce the impact of human activity on the environment, carries out environmental assessments of construction projects, and applies engineering principles to pollution control, resource recovery and waste treatment.
Main tasks
- Research, assess and report on the environmental effects of construction and other activities, and design solutions using biological and chemical principles
- Oversee industry and government environmental facilities and programmes to make sure they meet environmental rules
- Design and supervise water, air and soil pollution control works
- Provide environmental engineering and technical support
Ways in
- University department: Engineering degrees, Offered by 93 universities in Taiwan
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a professional environmental engineer you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 環境工程技師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 16.
