How to become an Environmental and Occupational Health Technician
Official title: Environmental and Occupational Health Technicians
Carries out pollution control work in production processes, investigates and tests for occupational hazards in production, inspects workplace safety measures, and helps carry out or evaluate improvements to environmental health and safety.
Main tasks
- Inspect workplaces to make sure the work environment, machinery and equipment meet government occupational and environmental health and safety regulations
- Inspect pollution control facilities and equipment to make sure they meet government regulations and standards
- Inspect production, processing, transport, packaging, storage and sales areas to make sure they meet government regulations and standards
- Check sites for pollution emissions, hazardous waste disposal and toxic chemical management against government regulations and standards
- Promote pollution prevention and correct practices, such as monitoring disease-causing microorganisms and harmful substances in the workplace, food hygiene management and proper disposal of industrial waste
