Official title: Medical Records and Health Information Technicians
Creates and maintains medical records and health information in health care facilities.
Main tasks
- Develop and prepare health indicators, and keep patient records up to date to collect, classify, store and analyse information
- Maintain medical records systems, admission and discharge documents and other medical reports
- Check medical records for clarity, accuracy and completeness
- Convert written and numerical information in medical records into codes under standard disease classification systems
- Keep medical records secure and confidential, and report to the authorities as required
